Diseases of Poverty
The three primary “diseases of poverty” are AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis, which account for roughly 10% of global mortality. They are so-called, because their prevalence is highest in developing countries (90-98% of all cases are found there, depending on the individual disease.)
Poverty is a crippling contributor to the existence and severity of these diseases: access to healthcare, affordability of vaccines and treatments, and compliance with drug regimens complicate even the best efforts to deal with disease eradication.
MEND is applying advanced formulation and delivery technologies to vaccine and drug candidates to improve their characteristics, and result in much better access to therapies by the poor.
