Our Approach

MEND applies emerging and advanced delivey and manufacturing technologies to drug and vaccine candidates for diseases of poverty.

These technologies often make the difference between a drug or vaccine that cannot practically be developed because of problems like instability or high costs and one that successfully meets the restrictive criteria - low cost manufacturing, oral or needle-free dosing, lack of refrigeration - necessary to help patients in counties where the need is greatest.

The key to MEND’s approach is providing a nexus where these technologies can be systematically vetted against therapeutic candidates, and new collaborations are generated.

We believe that the best solutions to the global challenge come from broad and transparent collaboration amongst very diverse groups, including the substantial inclusion of emerging research and capabilities in the developing world.
